Close Proximity: Oh Voices

Posted by dancehallhips on January 24, 2008

I thought I’d start a new segment called Close Proximity highlighting local bands from a good stone’s throw away. I’m starting off with a Tacoma, WA group Oh Voices who came to my attention today. Unfortunately for you, they have no downloadable tracks as of now, but I suggest you click over to their myspace for a listen.

Oh Voices utilizes piano in a simplified but never dull or amateur performance. They aren’t afraid to flaunt their influences, channeling the likes of Van Dyke Parks produced artists, as well as riding alongside modern day acts like Grizzly Bear and Panda Bear. Oh Voices is atmospherically charming, soothing its listeners while drawing them in deeper with smug drumless ballads. Check ’em out…now!
