Snmnmnm

Snmnmnm is one of the weirdest band names I’ve ever seen, next to Sufjan Stevens…and he can’t help what he’s named, can he? Thanks to him, a lot of amusing arguments have surrounded the pronounciation of his name. But this post is not about him, it’s about Snmnmnm. These track’s are off their fourth album, Crawl Inside Your Head.
Snmnmnm – “It’s Your Loss”

Snmnmnm – “Wasted & Trying”

Luke Temple

I picked up a CD-R demo of this guy years back at a United State of Electronia concert oddly enough, but never gave it a listen. A lot of buzz has started to surround this guy so I got myself a copy of his newest work, Snowbeast, and heard some good stuff.

Luke Temple – “Saturday People”

Luke Temple – “Serious”

The OaKs

The OaKs were featured as Paste magazine’s cover story entitled “Can Rock Save the World”, featured with the likes of Bono and Peter Gabriel. In terms of sound, they’ve got some Paul Simon meets the aforementioned Sufjan Stevens.

The OaKs – “For Hugh Thompson, Who Stood Alone…”

Steve Goldberg & the Arch Enemies

Apparently this album was mixed by Steve Goldberg himself, and was submitted as his senior project. He got an “A”. Enough said.

Steve Goldberg & the Arch Enemies – “February Third”

Steve Goldberg & the Arch Enemies – “Summer’s Ending”

Capgun Coup

This is my favorite of the bunch. Capgun Coup’s album Brought to You by Nebraskafish, off the Team Love label, certainly has that Omaha rawness to it, in the style of Desaparecidos, Commander Venus, Cursive, et al. I really think these are going places. And I don’t mean just on tour.

Capgun Coup – “A Liar in Texas in a Green Room”

Capgun Coup – “Huch Finn”
